Card Math #2

ok, for those of you who wonder how I come up with my card ideas, it's kind of like math...

1. Paper Crafts Gallery Idol Challenge's theme was ENCOURAGEMENT cards, I immediately knew I wanted to make a card with my new stamp set by HERO ARTS which had a sentiment saying "Every Little Thing is Gonna Be Alright."

PLUS

2. I was skimming through Pinterest on my way to the Sand Dunes National Park with the family and I found this fantastic card by the great JJ BOLTON. Now NO one and I mean NO ONE does dies like JJ. Hands Down, game over.  And so, in honor of her awesomeness, I wanted to play with my dies too and see what I could come up with. I think though my card CASEs hers.

PLUS

3. I recently purchased a similar die to the one she has in her card called Country Landscape from Simon Says Stamp with my recent win from Runway Inspired Challenge.

PLUS

4. My blog buddy Virginia, has a new challenge using this photo.

PLUS

5. When I want to say wow on a card, I use glitter. It's just standard practice around here.

add that all up and you get my card:

and this modified version for the gallery:

Today is the LAST day to enter Paper Crafts Gallery Idol Challenge. In a last ditch effort I made these additional cards. I am burnt out and going to take a rest for a while. Then after I find out I lost, I will lick my wounds and try again to create something wonderful.

The above card was inspired by this one on PINTEREST. I wanted to join the triange bandwagon!

I just know you will miss me...hehe ;)

Moxi...I got Moxi!

Another card just for MOXI FAB WORLD Splatter Challenge. I need to focus on Papercrafts Gallery Idol, there are over 1000 entries already! This is a variation of another card I made here:

I am making such wonderful friends here in blogland. It is so nice because my family doesn't get it at all!

Once again, I used crayons to make the splatter. See here.

RIC #12

This is my second post of the day. For Make It Monday, scroll down:

Let me just say that everyone who entered RIC this time took all my ideas...so I had to dig deep.

Here is the inspirational photo from Runway Inspired Challenge:

and my take on it.

I thought the center of the dress looked like origami, so I went with an origami butterfly. I found a great tutorial here. The background in the photo had lines so I made mine mimic a butterfly trail with the blue swirls. I used Papertrey Ink's Happy Trails Stamp set to create the effect. lastly my orange banner to give it a pop.

This is going to Paper Crafts too. DUH! ;)

Thanks for stopping by, for commenting, for the encouragement, it means so much...

Cards on the Brain

Second Post of the Day People...Keep scrolling, there is a lot to see!

I tried to stay away...to focus entirely on Paper Crafts, but I got this little number in my head and I couldn't stop thinking about it until I made it. Check out how I sneaked a bike in my card! I used punches for the circles.

Yup, she snuck in the photo shoot again...

The entries this time were spectacular! Gayatri, Annette, Jinny, Laura...just to name a few!

This one is going to the PCGI challenge as well!

May the odds be ever in your favor, (Hunger Games)

Paper Crafts Gallery Idol

For those of you who don't know what I have been talking about obsessively on my blog, I am trying to enter a contest with only 20 spots open. I have until the 28th to create a masterpiece and compete with some BIG time cardmakers. There are so many people entering that I really have not a pea size chance at winning. Some of these people have the most amazing creations that I am left utterly speechless. It is sponsored by Paper Crafts Magazine and is similar to American Idol, but for carmakers.

As they say in the Hunger Games...

May the odds be ever in your favor,

My Thoughts Exactly:1,2,3,4

Hello!

Today I have 1 story, 2 cards featuring My Thoughts Exactly stamps, 3 obsessions and 4 kids. Here it goes...

ONE story:

Friday morning I sent kid #1 (it's easier to use numbers) off to school. It became time to get ready for work and I hear kid #2 and #3 fighting. To help distract #3 from the fight, I had her "help" me pick out an outfit (good mommy). Suddenly, I realized it was very quiet so I shouted, "Karina (kid #4)! Where are you???"

"adkhjrhelk," she replied melodically.

The Craft Room! I forgot to shut the door!

Running with #3 in arm, I made a dash for my beloved room full of wonderful things! Too late.

She had crayoned up my BRAND NEW computer. Sadness. Yelling ensued.

"You are not supposed to yell at little children" says a crying #3. (Yup, true :( bad mommy)

Fast forward I go to work and see my first patient of the day. How are you?" she asks. I tell her my sad story and how I got outnumbered again. But then quickly added, How are YOU? (after all she was here for a physical not to hear my story).

She answers tearfully,"Well, my dad died in February."

OUCH. Kind of puts it in perspective. So in honor of my dear patient who helped me realize that there are bigger things to cry about, here is my card.

TWO CARDS:

Supplies: MTE More Mini Thoughts, Hero arts flower, Technique Tuesday library card stamp

A second card to show you featuring Pick a 'Stache (a new release by My Thoughts Exactly).

Supplies: Stamp: MTE Pick a 'Stache

THREE obsessions:
  1. My new computer
  2. Papercrafts Gallery Idol (people are making crazy awesome stuff, I feel like a marathon runner, just excited to be part of the festivities!)
  3. The My Thoughts Exactly Pick a 'Stache stamp set. I can think of a thousand things to do with this set and most of them include glitter...maybe I have 4 obsessions???

FOUR kids
They are 8 (Sophia),6 (Bennett),3 (Anya), 1(Karina) and they rule my world. I am glad that they are healthy and my computer still works, so it's not THAT bad!

Ok, that's it for me! Bye.

I Am Starting to Weaken

Ok, now I had made this for the Paper Crafts gallery idol challenge...but it just HAPPENED to fit the MOXI FAB WORLD Splatter Challenge too. So why not enter both?

I used my beloved crayon technique to create the splatter. You can see a video of how I do this here.

Thanks for stopping by!

My Thoughts Exactly Blog Hop

Well Let's get to it! My Thoughts Exactly Stamp Company has some really great stamp sets released this month and I am showing you my favorite of the group: Pick a 'Stache.

I couldn't stop using this set. My first card was inspired by this photo from PINTEREST:

The sentiment is from MTE new release as well...called Father's Day Mini

I will be entering it into the MOXI FAB WORLD Tuesday Trigger Challenge. Now this was a total coincidence. I had no intention of entering challenges while completely focused on Papercrafts Gallery Idol... HONEST. I think I must still have the challenges in the back of my head and then when I go to create, it comes out subconsciously! That's my Dr. Phil Talk Folks. Probably complete nonsense!

The second card was made using scraps from the first card.

I made one more, but you will have to come back Tuesday for my usual MTE post to see it!

My dad has a mustache, so this set is especially sweet to me! Picture a tan Tom Selleck from the 80's...here's a picture in case you don't know who he is...ouch, just realized my age.

Wida - beachorado.blogspot.com (YOU ARE HERE)

And did you know MTE owner Alyssa is graduating, so to celebrate they are offering 12% off orders of $25.00 or more with code GRAD12 at the checkout...so CHECK IT OUT!!! Hope I was a good host while you stayed at my place. Now run along to the next stop...Alyssa!

Now I am going to get back to that Papercrafts Gallery Idol Challenge...HONEST! Ok, don't hold me to it!

Casual Fridays Challenge #53

Casual Fridays challenge this week is to use punches or dies on a card.

My tag is a die using my Cricut. Love that little thing, saves me in a pinch. And the punch is a Fiskars border punch. I know what you are thinking...thought you weren't going to enter any challenges while totally focused on Papercrafts Gallery Idol? What happened????

It is hard to stay away from an addiction.  I see all my favorite bloggers entering or designing for them and I want to have some fun too. And despite losing every week, I come back for more. Call me crazy!

Speaking of crazy,  the dimensions of this card is odd. I was at a paper store back in my hometown of Ohio and bought some interesting envelopes and decided to make a card that fit. I kind of like the change up!

This post is dedicated to Virginia Lu and Julie Hoffman. They are always positive and encouraging to me and when I wanted to give up or have a pity party, Thank you!

Bye,

Wida

Craft Jungle

Another entry for the Paper Crafts gallery idol competition. There is so much pressure/competition that I am not even thinking clearly! It's a craft jungle out there...which brings me to a very timely saying I just heard---

"AND MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR." That is a quote from the Hunger games. I just saw the movie ...can you believe movie tickets are 10.50! I guess it's ok for a rare date night out which was fun, but not required. Think of all the craft stuff I could have bought with that money ;)

I think that will be my new closing sentence until I lose this thing...

Smile

I love PINTEREST for so many reasons. I am drawn to their graphic posters like this one which inspired my card.

I am off to post it for the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol with the zillion others. Going to need a lot of luck on this challenge.  Jennifer Rzasa is posting some crazy great stuff!

Easy Peezy

A few weeks ago, I won the Chunyuan's Challenge and the prize was this sweet little tree from Amuse. I stamped it, colored the leaves with markers, inked the edges, put some crackle medium on it, popped it, and posted! Easy Peezy!

This is going to my Paper Crafts Gallery Idol submissions. Oh my is the competition fierce!  JJ posted her feather card. Somebody fan me with it because I was about to faint when I saw it!!

Paper Crafts on my Radar

I am announcing a hold on all challenges to focus all my creative energy on Paper Crafts Gallery Idol. (oh NO!!)

I have seen this challenge go on for many years and not until right now did I understand what goes into it. All the entries, the effort and thought behind trying to be a winner. I am a challenge junkie... Addicted to the whole process of it, especially the winning part (aren't we all?). This seems like the ultimate in challenges. So until the deadline, I will be making cards like a madman with the help of my other addiction, PINTEREST.

This may be a HUGE disappointment, but what the heck?  I am feeling adventurous!

and the Pinterest inspiration photo:

Awesome work and an awesome human being. Jo Peel.

Sooo much more to come! Wish me Luck!! Oh, and Happy Mother's Day. I have 4 babies who call me mamma and today I am going to especially enjoy being called this name.

My New "Method"

I make a card.
It sits on this window sill for a while
I decide whether it is blog worthy.
And if it is...

I post it!

I used my washi as ONE banner in this string of cuteness. They never said HOW much washi I was supposed to use (*wink*).

Embellish Magazine Blog, how your pictures entice me!

I take my blogging seriously, don't you??? ;)

My First Design Team Post...EEK!

Hello!
My daughter's teacher is having a baby and I thought it would be nice to give a card along with money for the group gift. The great part about being a card maker is that it comes in handy in times like these. People always have such positive reactions to the cards and it is something special, especially to those of us who don't bake or want to give something more personal to the generic gift card...

The Mini Thought's set is just perfect for those projects in which you need just a little something.  It stamps like "buddah"  every time, very crisply and evenly.  How do you like the "staging"? pretty sweet eh?

Supplies used: cricut new arrival cartridge. Hero Arts butterfly die, MTE stamp set, versamark ink in black, mat stack and paper piercer from Stampin Up!

If you would like to buy this set click here. though I think they are sold out right now :( so check back because I think it is worth the wait!!

The card is pretty self explanatory, but if you would like to see a video on how I made it, let me know!
Oh, I just found out she is having a boy...oops! I ended up giving her this one.
Thanks for stopping by!

A Blog Named Hero Challenge #3

Checking out my blog roll this am and noticing one great card after another. Wow! I thought to myself, these are some fantastic cards...then I realized, it's a little biased because these are all the people who's work I like, so of course it's going to be awesome.

Reminds me of a story, well, another one: My first job as an NP was with an internal medicine physician. At lunch one day, I said to him, "Gosh, your patients sure do like you." He replied, Yes...but all the ones who didn't, left!

So here is my card for A BLOG NAMED HERO Challenge #3: Topsy Turvy.

I used my Hero Arts Thank you set as string for my Japanese Doll Lanterns!

Thanks for stopping by,

Wida

Virginia's View #4...and some revelations

THIS IS MY SECOND POST OF THE DAY: scroll down to see more!

Virginia's View Challenge brought out some really beautiful cards. It seems everyone already thought of every design I could think of...so I had to dig deep. After all, it's the last one and I wanted to make a good impression on the best bloggin'  pep talker I know, "V".

I don't have those particular type of flowers, so I thought I could hide it through some masking. And this card was fine, but there was some serious competition...and I felt like I could do better. So I came up with this one:

I am going to give this little sweet card to my momma for Mother's Day. I have to tell you that the stamp set by My Thoughts Exactly are such the perfect size for for area's like this, and they stamp quite crisply. The polymer is so strong on them, it feels like rubber.

The inspirational photo:

Want to get inspired? check out the other entries! Really stiff competition!

WARNING...THERAPY APPROACHING!!!
Ok, now I got to talk therapy with you, which was also inspired by this post. Some of you more experienced bloggers have probably gone through this, but, I wanted to talk it out. I am a big analyzer of things, so here it goes:

I have had this blog for a few months now. At first, I was so excited to post and get feedback, really, just have people see my work besides friends and family. As time has gone on, I have tried different styles, learned different techniques and have tried my best to post great cards with something new. But I realize that I now want to post my best self and not for the sake of posting all the time. So you may see less of me, but it's because I have scrapped a lot of cards that I might have once posted. I want to impress you, not just give you something to look at. So that's it. Maybe this in not the normal evolution of a blogger, but it's what I am experiencing right now.
